During the 2024 campaign, Trump publicly denied any connection to Project 2025, saying he had "no idea who is behind it" and that some of its proposals were "absolutely ridiculous." But immediately after taking office in January 2025, he began implementing it pillar by pillar. Schedule F was reinstated and expanded on January 20. DEI offices were eliminated across the federal government on January 25. Russ Vought was appointed OMB director on February 1 — the same architect who had written Project 2025's chapter on executive power. Climate science suppression began in March with the firing of hundreds of NOAA and EPA scientists. Independent agencies were restructured to bring them under White House control beginning in March.
