Elon Musk's America PAC Harvests PII from Swing State Voters Through Fake Voter Registration -- CNBC Investigation Finds Data Not Used for Registration
CNBC reported that America PAC -- Elon Musk's $290M+ super PAC supporting Donald Trump -- created a "Register to Vote" page that harvested personal data (full address, phone number, age, zip code) from users in battleground states but did NOT actually register them to vote. Non-battleground-state users were redirected to official state registration pages, while swing-state users submitted detailed PII and received only a "thank you" page. The data was instead used to inform America PAC's door-to-door canvassing operation, which had spent $21M+ on canvassing, digital media, and phone calls. Michigan and North Carolina both launched investigations into the PAC's deceptive data collection practices.
