Understanding Kurrency

Published June 21, 2026 Updated June 21, 2026

Kurrency is UnderKurrent's reputation currency. Unlike karma (which is post-specific), Kurrency reflects your overall contribution to the platform.

Earning Kurrency

| Action | Kurrency Earned |
|--------|----------------|
| Create a post | +10 |
| Report an event | +5 |
| Gain a follower | +2 |
| Receive an endorsement | +5 |

What Kurrency Is Used For

Kurrency is one of the factors in the feed algorithm's visibility score (20% weight). Users with higher Kurrency have their content more widely surfaced in the Trust sort.

Kurrency is also planned to be used for:
- Unlocking additional platform features
- Eligibility for community moderation roles
- Weight in community governance decisions

Kurrency vs. Karma

- Karma is post-specific: each post earns its own karma score through upvotes and downvotes
- Kurrency is user-level: it grows with every contribution and follows you across all your content

Think of it this way: karma rewards individual posts, while Kurrency rewards the person behind them.
