Link ShareTrump Trying to Out Lisa Cook - to Obtain Chokehold on Federal Reserve's Independence to Force the Lowering of Interest Rates
Supposedly, for a self-professed genius (and not many others to back him on this statement, at least individuals of substance and value): Trump is attempting yet again - after ousting Jerome Powell (one of his own appointees to the Federal Reserve - the Fed - during his 1st administration) - is now attempting to oust Lisa Cook.
Why? Simple. Trump wants to be able to set interest rates - by setting them much lower, in an already weakened economy and with already problematic inflation.
For anyone aware of or posessing a base understanding of macro-economics, this is inherently a bad idea. While the ultra-wealthy can weather higher interest rates (technically), and weather economy-breaking inflation -- everyday Americans cannot.
While on one hand, making loans cheaper and more accessible is a good thing - during financially challenging times - to make life more accessible and easy: we must remind ourselves last time we had super low interest and predatory interest rates. You may recall the 2008 Housing Crisis. Not only did that bankrupt and eventually bankroll the likes of Blackrock (yes that Blackrock - the one that owns more real estate in the nation than practically any other entity - and has it parked there for the economy crashes; creating a false-commodization and raising housing the cost of rent and housing - thus making everything more unaffordable). And as you may also recall, it was the Federal Government - aka. "we the People" through Obama's leadership - bailed them out of this crisis to keep the banks solvent and to avoid people losing all of the money they had in their respective bank accounts.
Since the 2008 housing crisis was borne of too lax / low interest rates... imagine the same thing repeating again, but this time with even a weaker economy than before... with the guard-rails removed. Of course, it's all tunnel-vision for Trump, his supporters and sycophancy with supporting such a move; but it's another to be attempting to force/shape outcome here, that would clearly benefit Trump over the people.
Truly the same could be said with Trump's attempts to purportedly bankroll (but ultimately levy tax-payers and increase the national debt) $5000 payouts... and likewise with Trump and Republicans efforts to gut healthcare and hollow it out, with no equal replacement. As you know Trump-regime v1.0 claimed for years and years and years (always to be delayed 2 weeks): Republicans had a plan. Their plan for healthcare? Get rid of the subsidies... force everyone back onto private pay, low-quality, high-deductible for the sick - health insurance. While it may seem like "great value" on paper, in the long run - if one were to opt for one of these catastrophic plans: ultimately all they are getting is the ability to stabilize in the hospital ER, or via hospitalization - not much more. Diagnosed with cancer? Yeah... old insurance doesn't typically cover that. Get sick while working with an employer and lose healthcare? Both expensive, and no requirements for minimum base value of the plan, nor any of the advantages that come with "cost sharing" - defraying the costs for those sick and in need.
What's worse are their attempts to institutionalize the disabled, remove them from communities and at the same time convince people that universal Medicaid (or soon to be squashed by Republicans next year - Medicare and Social Security) - are somehow bad things. In reality, the tax payers pay into these entitlement programs, for years - often decades. When it comes time to collect, these programs didn't fail due to the base trust structure of these programs - nor are they caused by a mass surge in baby-boomers; more often than not - it's because: (1) the money-grubbing hands of government borrow against these programs without a manner of paying them back; and (2) the ultra-wealthy don't pay their fair-share into these programs at similar percentage - yet get paid out massively/disproportionate to what they invest. All of this is to say, such practives are unsustainable.
The reason why I throw healthcare into the mix with an economics post is because healthcare is like top three Gross Domestic Product (GDP) on the USA. And while Republicans and a bunch of nay-sayers will say universal Medicaid is a mistake (and that life in Europe is hell): on both accounts, they are wrong. The reality is, the more that Medicaid is expanded to become universal, the better quality care, and it also sets the standard of care - as well as driving costs down - which naturally by extension includes private insurance premiums. Additionally, we have the ACA to thank for insurance companies not being able to discriminate (or charge separate rates) for "high risk pool" applicants.
Moreover, I brought up healthcare because it's practically the same stratagem as is the case with the economy: make massive changes, kick the can down the road, ask questions later, then later blame Democrats on why these decisions don't pan out. And yes, these narcs are literally that sick - we've seen it via the outward corruption and gaslighting. It's exceedingly uncommon to see a Republican stand on principle, what's right, or in the image of the classic Grand Old Party. Of course we have Newt Gingrich to thank for popularizing shameless lying in politics... later picked up by Trump... and their forerunners Nixon and Reagan also knew this all too well - hence why "I'm not a crook" and "trickle-down economics" - both were never really things.
I'll end by making yet another plug for the documentary, "Our Nixon" on Netflix. If you haven't watched it yet... now is the time. I am confident you'll see a striking parallel between the corruption now, to the way it was back then - minus the "guard rails" that existed back then, and the will/outrage of the masses being a true concern. I honestly don't know why Americans are as docile as they are when they see Democracy being lambasted and enshrined into exile and oblivion, other than to say: the social programming of the net seems to be working and making every person feel hopeless/helpless, too distracted/bored/apathetic to care, then combined with loss of community, leads to loss of culture and then subsequently loss of country.
In addition to voting, I ask everyone spend a week reading the constitution - you might find some thought and truth elucidating and though-provoking concepts and oaths contained within. As for the supposed "white Christian nationals" - same thing... go read your Bible... because you're so off the mark and worshipping the anti-you-know what, to recognize you are playing right into the hand of your worst nightmare (it might feel good to receive his acknowledgement after receiving zero acknowledgement for the crimes committed against you as children... but I promise you there are no loyalties with this man... ane you'll be proverbially the next in the wood-chipper (so to speak) - as soon as you've worn out your use. It is common sense to say this man is a con man, but you guys have likewise ruined the phrase "common sense" because you have rendered a false-equivalency to your own brain-rot. Congratulations.
