• The escape: weak, nihilism; too many choices and no one to solve the social problems. The individual's the can't handle freedom: authoritarianism, destructiveness, automoton conformity (MAGA does all three) and calls Trump "daddy". "TDS" and zero follow-up.
• Learned Helplessness Weak and Broken People (due to perceived loss of control - unable to change outcome; developing a nihilistic view - "burn it all" and lack of self-improvement; propagated by lineage of parental baggage). People quit at life, fed right into the narcissistic hand. Weak and broken people - but the group the most in need; they need Trump.
• Group Think/Belonging (not just the leader) - Roy Bahmer - published "need for human connection"; brain's belonging vs. ostracized (interprets exile as physical pain). Their entirety identity is surrounded by MAGA; brain will choose the lie over loneliness, every time.
• Permission and moral disengagement and dehumanization, displacement of responsibility and cruelty increases (while conflating themselves as "good people", or barers "common sense". Dehumanization of others.
• The propaganda machine and the algorithm (emotional polarity and moral contagion): rage and fear machine - new enemies each and every day
• The lock - they can't leave: ego and group identity and humans don't want to be wrong: they double-down. The sunken cost-fallacy and identity and "needing to be write" (a fool's ego they can't let go and admit fault)

Escape from freedom is conflated with purpose - no matter the damage caused to debasing themselves, others, or the complete breakdown and destruction of society.

Which parallels Nazi germany, from the writings of Erich Fromm; we're living in that parallel nearly 80 years later; while we have a populace of the US that seems to embrace it... even though it's working directly against everyone's interest. This is the subtextual/pretextual narrative to the abuse, gaslighting, projection, and subverting the actual will of the people that has been hijacked and replaced humanity with rage-baiting and a certain level of narcissistic qualities.

I recognized this myself, but never really put together an exposition piece on it.... thus, this scratches a very needed itch for me... and does an excellent job laying it all out.
