Trump Drives Over Reflecting Pool Before It Cured

Trump drove his motorcade over the newly poured White House Reflecting Pool floor before it had cured, causing permanent damage including a 300-foot knife mark through the bottom of the thin concrete layer. The project was rushed: Trump did not obtain multiple bids as required for grant usage, instead giving the contract to a friend. The connecting expansion joints were a problem from the outset, and the curing process was over-sprayed and rushed. When the damage became visible, Trump claimed that sick and twisted individuals who hate our country had vandalized the pool, and that Democrats had intentionally added algae to turn the water red (visible on Fox News coverage). Trump claimed to possess undeniable footage of vandalization but refused to share it with the public. He then announced plans to re-do the project with the very same contractors who failed the first time, costing American taxpayers even more than the original 20 million dollar allocated cost — while refusing to take responsibility for the self-inflicted failure.
