Bondi Demands Minnesota Voter Rolls in Exchange for ICE Withdrawal — State Refuses

Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter to Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz demanding the state hand over its unredacted voter rolls as a condition of removing ICE and CBP agents from Minneapolis, where Operation Metro Surge had been running since December 2025. Minnesota officials publicly rebuffed the demand, calling it an unlawful federal intrusion on state election authority. The extortion attempt followed DOJ lawsuits against Minnesota and two dozen other states Trump lost in 2020 seeking full voter registration lists, and came after federal agents fatally shot Renee Good and Alex Pretti in the Minneapolis operation. Courts had already begun dismissing DOJ voter-data suits in California, Oregon, and Georgia.
